Open SMS links with ACloud SMS

Configure Chrome and Windows once to open SMS links in ACloud SMS.

Step 1

Allow ACloud SMS to handle SMS links

Open this guide in Chrome, click the button, and approve the request to handle SMS links.

Step 2

Set ACloud SMS as the default in Chrome

Open chrome://settings/handlers in Chrome. Enable protocol handlers, find ACloud SMS for SMS, and choose “Set as default”.

chrome://settings/handlers

Step 3

Select Chrome for SMS links in Windows

Open Windows Settings → Apps → Default apps. Search for the SMS protocol or link type and choose Google Chrome.

If the button does not open Settings, search for “Default apps” in the Windows Start menu.

Optional

Windows setup assistant

Download a small helper that opens both settings pages. It does not change your defaults, edit the Windows registry, require administrator rights or send messages.

You can inspect the file before running it; Windows may warn about downloaded scripts. Manual instructions above work without a download.

Step 4 · Test

Test an SMS link

The link should open a new-message draft. Nothing is sent automatically; sending requires pressing Send.

This number is for demonstration only; do not send the test message.
